this is what happenned with the ipod.
1. i charged it.
2. i installed the software.
3. i plugged the ipod in using a lower speed USB port.
4. a message appeared stating that i had a high USB device plugged into a low USB port, but that it will work at reduced speed.
5. at this point itunes should have turned on automatically and started transfering songs from my library to the ipod. it did not.. at one point there was a message saying i haven't downloaded the software for the ipod?
6. so i reinstalled all the software. or rather, i used the "repair software" option.
7. i really don't know how, but eventually it worked. for a very short while.
8. itunes opened after i plugged in the ipod and the few songs and albums in my itunes library transferred.
9. upon transfering, my computer crashed..
10. but the ipod worked. i listened to it. i was happy for a short while.
11. then i got greedy and imported a bunch of cds and files into itunes and tried to do the whole thing again.
12. it did not work. it did, however, freeze my ipod to the "do not disconnect" flashing screen.
13. i had to disconnect it regardless, because it just wasn't working. itunes was not opening and when i went to reinstall the software again, it asked me to plug in the ipod so it can be configured. so, it didn't recognize that the ipod was plugged in.
14. this morning, the ipod is not frozen anymore and it is working fine with the few songs and stuff that i managed to get onto it.
so that's the story. now how do i make this work?
