The coffee shops in my area have yet to put any chairs/tables outside. I suppose they're waiting until they're sure that they won't have to be brought back in. Fair enough. I've been waiting for this event as though it were the second coming of Jesus for about 7 months, so I can wait another week. I think...
One thing I've noticed since the requisition of a laptop is an increase in time spent writing. Pretentiousness aside, there is something strange and new about being able to sit in public, slapping away at the keys without having to get up for a cigarette break. This also creates an internal contradiction. I have a strong aversion to ever showing anybody my work. I'm simply too shy about it, as I am a great many things. Maybe that's why I'm digging this whole "bring your computer to the bar" thing. I feel like I'm doing something that deviates from my own norm. Previous to becoming mobile, I would sit in a dark room with the shades drawn in the wee hours of the morning trying to force an idea and ignore the craving for a smoke.
Perhaps I'll actually produce something printable this summer. Who knows?

Oh, nothing beats writing in a dark, smoke infested place... Of course, I always liked to be cliche and have a bourbon next to me.
