So obviously most people will have heard what happened in London the yesterday, a very nasty little bigot tried his hardest to hurt as many people as he could in the name of who knows what. 4 people were killed including a police officer and dozens of others were injured some seriously. Now I work for one of Londons emergency services and whilst I wind down from what was a quiet, but very tense night shift clearing up the aftermath of that incident I just thought I would share with you exactly why this sort of attack on my city doesn't work, and never will.
The reason is two fold, number 1, we are British and we are by nature reserved so whilst we keep the dead and injured in our hearts we take stock and move forward with life, we don't let this change anything and number 2 we are Londoners! We just get on with it, turn up to work the next day and complain about the tubes and buses again we don't run around fearful the only thing that will grind london to a halt is apparently an inch of snow. Supposed terrorists? Hey we survived the blitz, we survived the IRA and we survived 7/7 and how? But keeping calm and carrying on and that phrase is used to death but it stands true here.
So now I'm going to get some sleep, there's work to be done tonight and I'll be heading in as usual, they don't scare me, they don't scare London.
