I just joined the dogs group. I really hope I can get a dog when I move. It's like this little piece of me is missing when I don't have a puppy . . . I'm just a lone pickle.
Started reading Stephen Jay Gould's "The Mismeasure of Man". It's really interesting to read up on all the bogus "genetic evidence" for intellectual capacity and the comparisons between the races and sexes.
I hope that I can get into more of Gould's work, as he's really fascinating. Judging by the science section at my local bookstore though, he's going to be hard to find. They had the most ridiculous crap filed in alongside reputable authors. There were two books "proving" that Darwin was a devout Christian , a book on cyborgs, stuff like "why men don't have nipples" and popular pseudo science on crap like aphrodisiacs and astrology. I'm going to have to keep ordering off of Amazon I guess, or find a good independent book store that caters to people who like to actually read.
Off to read my book.
