man that This Mortal Coil cd.....

I smelled it: my old apartment. I mean I really actually inhaled it.

The first few bars of "Kanga-roo" and my very next closed eyed inhalation was of an old incense I used to burn. Haven't smelled that stuff in 21 years.

As the cd played on, It really had a strange effect on me.
Song to the Siren pulled me deep, as it always did, but when holocaust started it was like a smelly time machine. I went through all sorts of olfactory tours. Eventually, I came up through time to one of my first apartments here in Vancouver, and I was smelling fresh eucalyptus, the Murphys Oil scent of a freshly mopped hardwood floor and beeswax candles.

I am so glad to have found that CD, Im strangely grounded when its playing. Waves become Wings in particular.

Somehow, its reminded me of some freckles I used to have when I was kid. I noticed once when I was around 9 or 10 that this one particular group of freckles right underneath my right eye actually appeared to spell out Love in the mirror. This stuck with me for quite a long time, and I remember showing it to one of my first girlfriends when I was 18 and she thought it was really cool.

Searching now though, I cant see them anymore.
Not that that is supposed to be deeply poetic and meaningful, I'm just kinda disappointed that they've been washed out.

Hey, thanks so much for your comment, it means allot.

It's funny, I was hesitant about unloading such a lengthly journal entry but thought of your frequent voluminous, wordy missives, and thought "what the hell, I'll do it pica_pica style". smile

Such sophistication. I myself am listening to "High Enough" by the brilliant-yet-oft-overlooked Damn Yankees, and I can smell my junior high multipurpose room (the MPR, of course.)
