I just auditioned for my school's annual burlesque show. It was pretty awesome. All we really had to do was sort of prance around in front of the recruitment folk and then do two short and very simple routines. They involved a lot of hip and butt. It was fantastic, especially for a bisexual girl who's going through an "am I bi or just a les at this point?" phase.
The whole idea was that you didn't need to nail the movements, it was more about the attitude. I've got attitude, and I can make it that really expressive whimsical kind that burlesque is all about, but I'm really a lot more into the lookatmeI'msuchasultrygoth sort of attitude. That's okay: I may get to choreograph my own piece, in which case the music it would be set to would totally be "Oh My Goth" by Razed in Black. Then I could do whatever the bleep I want. I'm really only getting this opportunity because I've actually had pole-dancing lessons before, and it is a distinct possibility that we get hold of a pole for this show. I sure hope so. If all else fails, I could actually just build one... For under $100, too yay Exciting.

If you post the show on the SGCT board, I'm sure you'll get quite a crew cheering you on.
