Tonight we went to the local "Cindy Sheehan" anti-war vigil at the Federal Building. It was a pretty good turnout, we thought, for our little southern city. Some of the relatives of KIA's in Iraq were there. I wasn't really in the "mood" to do this tonight, but I decided if nothing else I should exercise my right to protest, peacefully. Having gone, I'm glad I did. Good energy. Sad, but good, in that grief and sadness can be transformative. Other than a few drive by hecklers, it was a peaceful event. Candle lights. I recalled how even Richard Nixon went out once to talk to protesters at the Lincoln Memorial. Bush has done no such thing.

On a lighter note, I have a new co-worker at my job that I like a lot. I think she is a Suicide Girl. Don't know if she's pierced or tattooed (I don't know her that well, yet, and is that like a requirement?), but she is a Love: 5'10", dancer's body, stunning Italian-esque face, obvious intelligence and independence of mind. OMG! And she's nice!

Definite SG potential here: I'd say can't miss. Do I get some kind of bounty or something for recruiting Suicide Girls? Anyway, I think my problems with being late to work or laying out may be over. love

A "BOUNTY"? That sounds horrible--hahahaha--"Fresh meat, y'all!"

I've always marveled at that Nixon story--the very thought of the president coming face-to-face with random protesters in the middle of the night is astonishing to me. Am I too young to remember the pre-9/11 state of things? Or have I just gotten that used to it? I remember airports before then . . . But in today's climate of constant fear, I just can't imagine any president doing something that, ever. Strange.
