Could it be true that dreams are nothing more than the children of an idle mind, begot of nothing but vain fantasy? Is love nothing more than a chemical reaction within our bodies that closely resembles the bodys reaction to foods like chocolate? Why then do some of us try so hard to find love, and work diligently to pursue dreams? If our lives are for the amusement of some greater power, then what is the point to continuing the show? I'd like to think that maybe there is something more to this whole "life" thing that people are more than mere actors on stage reciting lines that move inevitably toward a final curtain call. Is there truly a thing called chance, or is it all an intricately woven tapestry created by a thing called fate? Are our actions a product of free will, or are we just following the cues laid out before us? Existential thoughts are permeating my mind and clouding my vision of tomorrow. I live for today and as it fades I cannot help but wonder where it has gone. I dwell in the past, as there seems to be nothing in the future beyond the end of my nose. I hate this place, the vile people around me. Greed and hate follows in the shadows of everyone I see. This world has gone to waste because of the people who live in it. No one seems to notice how bad people have become, and worse yet they don't seem to care. A virus with shoes was a description for the human race that at one time was funny to think about, and has slowly become so true it is sad to recall. Can we call what society has become, evolution? Is the world making its way to becoming a better place? Our parents wanted a better world for their children, as many of us now want for our own. As much as we sit and want, and look around at the filth around us, can we really believe that it's getting better? Looking back I cannot think of a generation that set out to make the world worse, that didn't have great ideals for the future. The expectations of the people before us have led to where we are now, and look at it. Are we living in the utopia that so many people before us dreamed of, and even worked to create? As technology carries us forward our bodies atrophy and we forget how to walk. Our minds become dependant on the shortcuts we have made. We no longer evolve to our changing environment; instead we sit and devise ways to change our surroundings to suit our own needs. We destroy each other and the world around us as we desperately cling to the lifestyles we have come to depend on. The world as we know it is slowly coming around to find that we have overstayed our welcome. We will never destroy this planet, though it is quite possible to destroy ourselves.
Anyway, I am bored now, and going to sleep, tomorrow is another day and I guess I should sleep now so I can be awake to see it. May no mind to the rant posted above, for unlike the dreams I spoke of this was the child of a mind that has gone without rest for many years, and that is far too long to expect that anything that it gives birth to, will make sense
