Disappointment
The hook up, the random affair, the NSA sex only semi-regular quazi friend. Sure weve all been there, and sure it can be a lot of fun. Then theres the next morning. The awkward wake up, the elbow that caught you in the ribs that reminds you there is a stranger in your bed, the hair you choked on while they were sound asleep. It hits you, you are still unimpressed. The reasons which sounded great on the way to your bed start to chip and crumble, and reality sets in. They look at you with interest, they wake up and move closer and they genuinely believe it might go somewhere. And you have to let yet another one down. It is because of their allure, the promise of something better. The grass is always greener, satisfaction the death of desire. The memories of the prior times youve faced the music suddenly hit you with sharp clarity, and the guilt you feel for saying yes finds its home.
Weve all been through this scenario. Why do we do it to ourselves? Why do we allow these things to control us? If I had a dollar for every woman I was forced to disappoint, well I suppose I wouldnt have a ton of money but Id at least be able to pay for my next date. Whats wrong with setting out to have a few laughs and a little fun? I refuse to subscribe to the word slut, there are those people who are just looking for a bit of fun, and go after what they want, and those who arent comfortable and instead keep these things to themselves. The bigger issue is that people dont seem to relax in relationships like they used to. Now with all the technology (which I use constantly), there is TOO MUCH communication. All day youre getting Facebook updates and text messages, by the time you hang out with your significant other, you have nothing to say! I say just relax, try and have a little fun, dont worry so much about whether its forever and for the love of god, save the funny stories for when we hang out. If I communicate less, it usually leaves me more willing to hang out without feeling smothered.
