On August 5th, my wife and I had our “Official” Wedding Ceremony at Seabreeze Point in Walt Disney World, Florida.
It was a gorgeous day for a wedding—despite it being hotter than I would have liked. But there was no rain, just enough cloud cover to texture the incredibly blue sky, and we had a great group of close friends and family with us.
The ceremony was beautifully performed by Rev. Jack Day, who did an amazing job tailoring the service for us in less than a week due to communication problems. We can't thank Rev. Jack enough, and would highly recommend him for anyone planning a wedding in Disney World.
Going with tradition, my wife and I parted ways on Friday night so we wouldn't see each other before the ceremony. This wasn't a problem in the hotel, but while the Bride's party was getting ready...
...we were getting ready for Rev. Jack, the Best Man (my brother) and I to walk in—which made things slightly interesting, as my brother had to lead me backwards to the point from which we made our entrance:
After we regally made our way (read: straggled) to our positions, the Maid of Honor (one of my wife's cousins) proceeded to show us how it was done as she worked the Boardwalk like a red carpet:
Next were the Ring Bearer, my son, and the Flower Girls, my sister-in-law and her daughter/my niece (note the makeshift use of a fancy paper bag instead of a flower basket—which somehow got left in my family's hotel room, and despite valiant efforts, was never retrieved):
Keep in mind that I never saw any of this, as I was still facing the opposite direction. But when Rev. Jack prompted me to turn around, I saw my wife in her wedding gown for the first time and she looked absolutely breath-taking. Here she is, being brought in by her mother:
As I said, the ceremony was wonderful, and we couldn't have been happier:
We were even able to light our unity candle despite the breeze:
And shortly thereafter we shared our first kiss as a married couple, again:
Naturally, the unpredictability of young ones is priceless during a wedding. I don't have any photos of this, and I hope someone captured it on film, but I was told that my niece made a game of shoving the rose pedals she didn't toss out of the bag down my sister-in-laws blouse. And my son kept carefully placing our rings back on the pillow as they started to slide off, until his part of the ceremony came up and he handed it off to my brother:
He was apparently not sure what he was supposed to do after his role was complete though...
Having our wedding ceremony at Disney World, we really didn't have any other choice than to have our Florida reception in Cinderella's Castle (although D couldn't wear her wedding dress into The Magic Kingdom, we were still dressed up for the reception; this photo of us beside the castle was taken the next evening):
It also gave us a reason to wear our bride and groom Mickey ears the entire week we were there:
Well, that's it folks. I'm sure I'll have more photos later, and possibly the video, but for now it's time for us to work on our “Happily Ever After.”
