So I went to visit my dad and stepmom this weekend. He lives in southern maryland, right up the road from St. Mary's College. Of course the real reason I went down there was to see his next door neighbor's daughter, who I've known since we were kids. She had just gotten back from overseas on Thursday. She taught English to kindergardeners in Korea, then took a months vacation in Thailand before coming home. Oh, and she's drop dead gorgeous to boot.
The entire weekend was filled with excitement and drama. For starters, on my way down, as I was coming around I-495 near Landover, a huge B-2 Stealth bomber swooped right down over the Beltway in front of me. Apparently, there was an air show at Andrews Air Force Base. As I lowered my eyes from the sky back to the traffic in front of me, I saw nothing but break lights. I guess everyone wanted to get a good look at the plane. They probably didn't realize that by doing so, they would be causing some major problems. I witnessed 3 massive rear end collisions in the matter of a few seconds. Luckily, I made it through ok. The rest of the drive was pretty uneventful, thankfully.
I arrived at my dad's house around 2pm. We went to the local airpark and did some work on his plane and then watched a few planes and gliders take off. We ate dinner and then I went to see my friend next door. She was at a party so I watched The Preakness with her mom, then went to meet her at the party. I got there around 7pm or so. Everyone else had been drinking since noon so I clearly had some catching up to do. So I started double fisting my 12 oz. Yuenglings. Then someone busted out a liter of Jager.
Yummy!!!!
Then came the jell-o shooters, which of course had so much liquor in them that they were still liquid. Oh. well!! Down the hatch!!! We started to build a bonfire around 10:15. Not sure why, because we were supposed to go to the bar, which luckily was right across the street. We left the raging inferno burning as we carefully walked across the street. Yay!! A bar!!! Bring on the vodka-tonics After another 6-8 mixed drinks, I lost count, the bar was closing. We left the bar and rather than doing the smart thing and going back to the party to sober up, we hopped in my car and started to drive home. Thank goodness at was only two miles away and it was a pretty empty one-lane road. Instead of taking her directly home, I took her down to the water where we sat on the pier and talked for quite awhile. I was trying to be romantic but was too drunk to say anything She was nice about it and thanked me for bringing her down there. That's when the mosquitoes began to attack So we cut it short and I took her home. Didn't even try for a kiss or even to tell her that I had a crush on her ever since we were kids. I guess there will be time for that some other time. So I drove home, which was right next door.
The next thing I remember, it was morning; very early in the morning. I was being woken up by my dad. Then I realize that I was lying in the bed with all the covers ripped off. My feet were at the headboard. My head was at the footboard. I still had all of my clothes on from the night before, including my shoes and hat He told me to hurry up and get dressed. We were going to breakfast and then going shooting, and we were already running late. I felt like death The last thing I wanted was to eat ANYTHING I came downstairs and my step mom took one look and said, "Oh, my GOD!! Look at your eyes!!" Needless to say, they were more than just a little red. We ate breakfast and took off to the gun club. The sound of gun shots was not helping my already crucial headache. I only ended up shooting one round as the kick from the shootgun was starting to make me queasy again. Thankfully, it started to rain and the event was cut short We headed back to the house and I promptly went upstairs to take a nap. I woke up six hours later. Guess I was more tired than I thought I was. We ate dinner and I took the two-hour trip home. Now I need a vacation from my vacation. There's no place like home!!
