As the story goes.......

...there was a frog and a scorpion. the scorpion goes to the frog and asks for him to give him a ride across the stream. the frog doesn't want to because "you're a scorpion, and half way across you'll sting me and i'll drown" the scorpion then replies with "that wouldn't make any sense, because if you drown, then i will too" so the frog thinks on this and agrees. so, the scorpion jumps on the frog's back and they start across the stream. about halfway across, the scorpion stings the frog. the frog cries out, "what have you done? you stung me and now both of us are going to drown. this isn't reasonable." the scorpion just simply tells the frog that "sense and reason have nothing to do with it....i'm a scorpion, it's what i do."

now, the issue here is, can someone change even if it's against their basic character? i believe that this is a pretty good example except for the fact that a scorpion is just a scorpion. instinct alone rules that bug's life. people are different and they can make conscious decisions on how to change thier lives. NOW.....the thing is, most people have no idea how to do it. pretty much everyone has been on both sides of the story...it just seems like i've been the frog far too many times. somehow it just seems that i get stung and drown more often than not.
meh....oh well. just some thoughts.
