I wonder when the Japanese were creating oragami figures, if they started with a specific animal or shape in mind and then tried to make it or if they just started folding and hoped itd turn into something and then were like, that totally looks like a swan......

They cut paper and put it together in the shape they wanted. Then they taped it together and unfolded it.
It wasn't so much the girl scout but her box of somoans cookies that was the catalyst.
