FUCK. I deleted something i was writing. which is a pain in the butt. My internet's been in and out.
But hey! I wanted to write cuz it's the first time in a while i feel like writing and it's not just "angst angst angst..."
I moved about a month ago! Into another place in the same building. I went from having 5 roomates i hated to living with like 10 people and being super happy about it. I spend more time socializing and relaxing and watching movies and playing video games, which right now I think is healthy for me. I know me and as long as i don't get to carried away I'll be fine. Right now i'm just enjoying having cool, respectable roommates. I've recorded with one already and two more are looking to collaborate in the future too.
I'm just really happy about the move, which was a spur of the moment decision and I'm glad it happened the way it did. I have WINDOWS now! No more fortress of solitude with soundproofed doors and no windows.
I didn't have any curtains, so i improvised. There's a cool design to the room. It's a square with a lofted bed and there's a nice desk built 90 degrees around, so there's tons of workspace and then living space above.
But what could possibly be the BEST part? There's a pitbull!!!! His name is Smoky! He's only 9 months old and he's so awesome. He's just super playful and hyper and chews on everything. I feed him the stems of vegetables when i'm cooking. haha. I never was all that into dogs, but having him around is just so awesome. Case in point:
Sometimes when he sits up, his ears fall back and just stand on end. It's so cute you'd probably explode if i actually showed you...
I started a new job. My good friend and mentor got a job as chief sound engineer (and thus head of technical staff) at a venue called Le Poisson Rouge at the end of January. And, despite his insanely busy schedule and all, he found time to hire me as a technical assistant (paid intern basically) last week! The place is a new venue with state of the art sound system and really eclectic music, ranging from avant-garde classical to Questlove DJ parties (that was fucking cool). Anyway, it's the kind of place I can be really proud to work at and have on my resume. Kickassss. Pictures to come
There's a million more things. Spring is coming. I've been trying to push myself to take more pictures and feel motivated. All this warm weather and the positive things that follow are making me think i NEED to move to more temperate lands ASAP - I'm thinking somewhere on the west coast, maybe the northwest like Portland or Seattle or northern Cali. Some place with enough of an artistic community that i can be stimulated and keep meeting new people and musicians to work with. But for now, Spring in New York will make me happy.
So will THIS girl:
If you don't already know, she's doing the penguin dance. and it's the only thing cuter than Smoky right now. My heart lights up just looking at these photos. I've never been so happy with someone. Somebody who makes me better. Somebody who makes me feel like I AM better, and makes me feel i deserve to BE better. Somebody who pushes me the way I wish I could push myself and somebody who appreciates me pushing them the same way. Somebody who makes me smile and laugh and never misunderstands when I'm not in the mood to smile and laugh. Somebody who loves me for me. Somebody well... exactly what every person looks for in another
And so I will leave you... I am going tomorrow morning to Pennsylvania. I will reunite with parents, pets, and Springtime in Pennsylvania. I will have mom's cooking for Passover dinner, then go to the best Indian restaurant ever for lunch the next day. Then I'll borrow a car drive to Boston, buy an amplifier from a guy i know, and spend time with my sister. Then I'll drive to Montreal, hang out with strangers (and sleep at their house!), and see one of my favorite bands in concert. Then, as quick as it happens, I will drive BACK to New York to see the same band again in New York City before returning the car to PA the next day. It's gonna be an awesome 5 days. I'll take a lot of pictures.

malloreigh:
instant coffee? gross.
malloreigh:
yay for considering your consumption choices. AND. have you tried a french press at home? if you measure the coffee out and put the right amount in, let it sit for the right amount of time, etc., it's always amazing.
