Anybody familiar with Black Light Burns? They're the new band fronted by Wes Borland (former guitarist of Limp Bizkit). I really liked the album when it came out last year, but i recently realized in listening to it, it's a LOT like the creative direction I want to go with my heavier music. It's a good blend of heavy guitars, gorgeous synths, and a little bit of ambience adopted from the post-rock genre. It's not super out there creatively, but i think that's what makes it so good. It's just a well-rounded, well-balanced album with a lot of gorgeous textures and a relatively raw production sound that's not super polished.
I need a million dollars so i can buy a shitload of cool analog synths and shit. That'd be awesome.
i am slowly but surely working on recording some tracks. I just am never happy with the quality of the recordings for the guitar tracks, and i usually just hit a mental wall where i give up and scrap the project. But i'm trying a bit more each week, which is better than not trying at all (which i did for a LONG time)
part of me wants to spend more time getting back into the SG community. But hell. I am WAY happier spending very little time online. I'm off to go play guitar a bit more and then go get groceries. I have put that off for far too long.
one love
P.S. I fucking LOVE the album artwork from that CD too. It's like my favorite painting. Wes does some creepy kinda gothic kinda morbid oil paintings, but this is my favorite by a long stretch.

edit:
I just spent like 8 and a half hours working on a track today. It's mostly synth with some live guitar (and i played some synth on the keyboard) and it's essentially just one repeating theme. It's gonna be the outro to a song (if i ever finish writing it). But for now it sounds kinda like Air. I'm really really proud of it just cuz it's my first real song that i can actually send people. Now i need to find some site to host it...
