My cat Midnight has been sick with an upper respiratory infection which she developed because she was on steroids for something else (steroids can severely weaken your immune system.) She's been acting like a complete flop... She barely moves around, her appetite is inconsistent, she meows way more than normal and she's just clearly not herself. We've been giving her antibiotics for like two weeks now and she's sneezing less but she still hasn't gotten back to normal. And then when that clears up, we gotta put her back on the steroids so her stomach lumps (long background) clear up.
Well i almost went to bed and realized i forgot to give her the 2nd dose of antibiotic today .And when i went to look for her, she was nowhere in the house. All my cats are outdoor cats, but it's certainly a RARE occasion that i can't find her when I want to. This is the second time in two weeks she was kinda missing and last time she came to the door a lot sooner..
But this time i couldn't find her, i couldn't hear her outside anywhere. I was calling to her and shaking up her cat treats (cuz the cats come running for that sound) but nothing, so i got worried. I started panicking and finally i walked by a part of the deck where she must have seen me. I heard her meowing from the woods. (we live in the woods and behind the house it turns into kind of a steep slope and there's no lighting that reaches back there.)
I ran down and followed her voice and started climbing down the hill in my slippers. I couldn't see her at first and then i started pulling aside some branches and found her just lying on the side of the hill, meowing. She didn't get up so i grabbed her and brought her up to the house.
by the time i got to her, i was crying. I was just so fucking worried about her and i couldn't take it. She seems unharmed... She's purring like a machine. She flopped down in my lap and didn't move when i sat down, so i gave her the medicine and a bunch of kitty treats.
My cats are like children to me. I think I am closer to them than i am to any other living things in this world. I just... I dunno. I wanted to say it i guess. If i had recent pictures of them i'd put them up.
right now she's just melted on my lap. she must not feel well cuz it seems like she fell asleep immediately. I'm gonna head on up and get into bed and curl up with her. I hope she feels better soon.
