Well, as of Saturday, I've officially lived in Portland for a year now. People keep telling me "Congratulations!", as though I've achieved something major. Just stayed alive, people, got to do that no matter what the town.....and trust me, I've lived in places much worse than PDX (south Mississippi anyone?).
Was supposed to hit the Pixies/DCFC/Decemberists show in Bend on Saturday, but my truck is starting to have transmission issues, so I didn't feel comfortable taking it on a 6-hour round trip drive out of town, especially since I would've been driving back at around 1 in the morning. Why I waited until the day of to decide this, I'll never know, since it meant eating the $45 I put down for tickets back in May (and unfortunately, 45 dollars is a fairly major sum for me), but I still had an excellent long weekend (excellent enough to require me to call in sick today for recovery).
Brought new meaning to the term "potluck" on Sunday. A few friends got together and cooked a big meal using tons of pot butter. We had bacon and chive pancackes with carmelized onions and walunt butter, shepherd's pie w/ roasted garlic mashed potatoes (mine), cheese fondue, teriyaki sea scallops stir-fry, and chocolate truffle cake. Every dish had pot in it somehow, and we got fairly fried. Actually, I think I've been high for about 3 days now......
In other news, hansel has gotten me addicted to The Dresden Dolls. Do a google or check out allmusic.com, I'm too lazy to dig up a link right now.
