Happy Memorial Day. I lift my morning bowl to ye....
I have mixed feelings about Memorial Day. I generally don't care for anything military-related, and this holiday is no exception. I have no wish to celebrate the killings of zillions of people, however utilitarian the cause. But at the same time, people I know firsthand, such as my grandfather and his friends, were in the military and risked their balls for something they may or may not have believed in (and I'm not sure which of those would be worse), so I like the fact that this day is supposed to recognize them in a way (seems like it gets more press than Veteran's Day).
Any day that marks the start of grilling season can't be all bad...
Last night I got to hang out with two crazy cats, Les and Mikael! Les is super-sweet, and although her pics are hot, she just might be elevated to the coveted "foxy" in person. And I immediately felt a kinship with Mikael, who is incredibly generous and a damn fine guitar player. We played some vinyl, played some guitar, ate some wicked tofu and curry dishes from Chopsticks and got pretty well trashed. I wish these two lived in Portland! But now I have mix tape pen pals, and Les isn't too terribly far away. Now to rescue Mikael from the doldrums of the North....
