Well, I've been going ninety miles a minute lately, but after the intense cabin fever induced by the "Great Winter Storm of Aught 4", I needed to spend copious amounts of time away from the flophouse. My neighbors took me to see Triclops play at the Goodfoot on Thursday and got me so tanked that I passed out in my booth periodically. Really dug the club though, very Phillipe-friendly ambience, and Triclops did a severly wicked version of MJ's "Billie Jean" (I'm told they do a different version every show). I expected to be off work the next day, but had to go into the office for several hours. MLK day is a holiday for most, but for us non-profit workers, it's a huge day that takes massive planning.
Spent most of the weekend in Vancouver, WA visiting an old friend from my Mississippi days and meeting some of the folks she grew up with. Met a fellow coon-ass from south Louisiana, and conversing with him did wonders to alleviate some of the homesickness that I've been feeling lately. Went to a porn store with some total strangers and scoped out the biggest double-headed dildo I've ever seen (not that I'm overly familiar with the double-headed dildo action). Drank much wine, drove around some farms.
And had a rock concert with a 7-year-old. For those of you who don't know, my primary area of emphasis in my non-profit work is K-12 education (preferably elementary age). I'm a huge fan of little kids (fuck you and your perverted thoughts), and this girl (Jera) has to be one of the greatest kids that I've had the pleasure of meeting. I was playing my guitar, and she went to her room and brought out her own djembe drum and proceeded to rock out with me. She can keep an excellent beat, so we played for a solid half-hour at least.
And tomorrow, much non-profit work and then a show at the symphony.
So: Saw an old friend, made new friends, heard good music, played good music and got in a bit of travelling.
Overall Phillipe mood: ( if I can find some bud shortly).
