The ups and downs of existence. I'm on a weird keel at the moment, not really knowing which direction to let my emotions dip in. I'm doing great, personally, but in the midst of a happy weekend, I found out that one of my closest friend's little sister died in a car wreck. I'd really like to make it home for the service, but I'm under contract to drive this group of undergrads from PSU to a conference in Whiskeytown, CA this weekend, so I can't make it. No one really expects me to, considering I just moved cross-country, but I would like to be there just the same.
As far as my own affairs, things are pretty peachy. Had a wonderful hike down Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge on Saturday. The salmon were still running, and I got some great shots of my friend Terry's dog jumping in the river to wrassle some fish. Got some good shots overall, I hope. Shame I was out of black and white film. I love photography of any sort, but I prefer to do my serious work in black and white.
I take that back. I do not love portrait photography. I fucking hate it.
After being in Oregon for a month and a half, I was finally able to score some bud! A resounding cheer from the depths of my belly is still reverberating through the household.
And I learned "Heart of Gold" on the guitar. Because it makes me sad, in a happy way.
