Firstly, thank you thank you thank you.
So I wanted to give a little overview of my latest set We don't make mistakes before now, but you guys have been going crazy for it that I've spent most of my time reading and responding to comments, messages, social posts and genuinely being amazed by how well it has been received.
I am truly overwhelmed at how much support I've had from everyone already, you've actually smashed my personal bests by a long shot - none of my sets have managed this much in 24 hours, and you've almost beaten my highest liked set in just 2 days!! I'm so so grateful to everyone that has commented, liked, shared, blogged and even tipped! You're all incredible. 😭❤️
Anyway, a little background into how this set was brought to life. It's not a secret that I love to paint. It's my favourite thing to do! I'm a creative, I appreciate art in many forms, some of my favourite tattoos on my sleeve were drawn by my mother. I wanted to show that all off in a set.
We shot at the #SGUK shootfest back in May. I had brought my own easel, paints, brushes and canvas because I wanted everything to be authentic, right down to the painting and materials I use at home. It was fun fitting it all into my little car! I'd started a canvas piece based on my favourite X-men characters, Jean Grey and Cyclops. I wanted to show my love for the comics too by using that particular piece.
I want to mention my bright ginger hair. Another important piece in all of this. Well. Some of you know about my sporadic hair loss and thinning hair problems and why I sometimes have to wear wigs, which I'd been embarrassed to talk about before (I'm even nervous typing this!). I was worried about the fact that people wouldn't like it, because it's not seen as "natural", it's not the "SG look." But it's naturally me, and it's my identity. So I hope you can understand that, despite wanting to conform, I also did what we stand for and stayed true to myself without changing something drastically for others. That's why my set is so unapologetically me. It should also explain why I wear it so often, so please don't judge me for it, if you can help it!
Once we had picked the set, it was time to choose a set name. I thought I'd poke some fun with a Bob Ross quote as I've been a fan for many years and his words always had me giggling on his shows. I still watch the Bob Ross Twitch streams. The particular quote I chose, "We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents" was actually more serious and meaningful than I realised. It really encompasses that positive mindset I've been raving on about for months and was actually perfect! So I'm really pleased that I managed to ensure every detail was 100% me and that the quote I chose was cute and positive.
It's all pretty simple really, but this set is by far the best representation of me and that's why I'm really so so proud of what @niallpatterson and I created. It captures everything I wanted to show you. Naturally.
Thank you all so much once again, and keep it coming - I'd absolutely love to make my dreams come true in becoming pink.
