listen up now ya'll, i'm gonna try and reach ya. class is now in session pay attention to the teacha...
i am a self described hopeless romantic. who unfortunatly for a time has begun to doubt the existance of love. the search for love seems endless within the human race, but what are we searching for? i once thought i had found it...
then life hit me and i had to reassess my views. now i simply try to live as best i can and hope and pray that i will re-discover that amazing feeling you get when you look deep into her eyes and that twinkle in her eye tells you more with out saying a word, than she could ever say in the day...
i know romance, and passion, and like, and lust, but where has that feeling from deep inside that makes you want to explode gone to? i dont know... i dont know...
there are many different kinds of love, here are but a few:
brotherly love - the intence feelings of trust and love developed over a period of time between friends and people who are forced to work closely together. i share this with every one of my brothers and sisters in arms, but it is strongest twards my fire team and squad...
familial love - a type affinity or natural affection felt between members of a group bound by common ancestry or blood ties. The cultural ideal of familial love is one that is committed, unconditional, selfless, emotionally full, and reciprocally returned by the other.
puppy love - the informal term for feelings of love between young people, especially during adolescence, so-called for its resemblance to the affection that may be felt towards a puppy dog. Puppy love is also commonly known as a "crush." The crush is the small form of love which can grow into romantic love.
agape love - the neverending, unrequited, charitable, selfless, altruistic, and unconditional, parental love seen as creating goodness in the world, it is the way the gods are seen to love humanity, and it is seen as the kind of love that all mankind should aspire to have for others.
these loves i understand, and experiance full heartedly... but the intimate love between a man and a woman... there is where i begin to wonder. is it simply the common bond and devotion saying i'm only going to have sex with you and no one else? if thats the case then i've been in love lots of times, just hardly ever had it returned, maybe all of twice...
but i digress... the purpose of todays blog was not to inform my whole 25 readers of my past but to enlighten the world to a very important point... that being valentines day needs to die.
hear me out real quick.
on v day. we go buy candy, and flowers, and cards, and expensive jewelry, and bestow them upon the obect of our desire in an attempt to tell them that we care. we've spent the entirety of the previous year ignoring them and now we have the chance to make up for it... right? isnt that what the commercials are tellin us? the little groups of girls clustered around a small velvet lined box whispering to eachother, "he went to jarrods"
like its this damn box that makes it all better. all the times he's ignored you, called you dirty names, made fun of you behind your back, cheated on you... put its ok now cause he got you some fuzzy box with a chunk of metal and rock inside.
or you run around with these cute little paper cards and hand them out to girls or boys you like and you start begging them to be your valentine or just wishing a...
but of course we cant forget that little cherubic pest floating around and shooting people with those damn arrows... yes i speak of cupid.
this little guys whole purpose in life is to convince people that they love each other. wtf? why do we need someone else to convince us? if you dont know your in love, guess what? YOUR NOT! the neccessity of this job is not to be denied though, perhaps a simple modification is in order. perhaps let her work year round and be given a break during february... for that matter why dont you do the same thing?
why would you spend the whole year hiding your love for another only to suddenly spend one day trying to make up for all the missed opportunities? why should you spend an inornate time attempting to convince someone of something they should already know?
i believe that you should spend every day telling those who mean the world to you, that they do indeed mean the world to you. everytime you wake up and they are nestled securly in your arms you should kiss their forhead and wish them the best of mornings. everytime you see eachother after an absence of either ten minutes or ten days, you should take them in your arms and hold them tight so that durring your times apart they will remember how well you fit together.
on the day i die, my greatest wish is that those who i love most will not look around and wonder wheather i did indeed love them. there should be no doubt.
thus i stand firm in my belief that there should be no valentines day... spend everyday telling her you love her. take a stand and help me end the ruinious day of extravagant excuses, attempting to give us an out for our lazyness...
all thanx go to jinger for the picture.
instead live each day with the following mantra...
"Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for my love is as strong as death, its jealously unyielding as the grave. It burns like a blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Mighty waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned."
