Dear People in this small minded town in this small minded county,
To some of us, "making the world a better place for our children." doesn't have anything to do with money, at least not in the way most of you seem to think it does.
To me, and others like me, "Making the world a better place for our children" means ensuring them rights and freedoms and choices and options; and if one of those options is to make lots of money than so be it but if one of those options is to become a hermit that makes castles out of Styrofoam cups, so be it.
To some of us The American Dream doesn't mean a huge Mc Mansion with an in the ground pool or vacations 4 times a year and a car that guzzles gas parked in your three car garage. It means being able to walk the streets without fear of being persecuted for the color of your skin or the prayers you say or don't say. To some of us it's not about how much you have, it's about the choices you have.
For instance, our grandmothers didn't have a choice when it came to voting, they weren't allowed, it was against the law so a few very brave people decided to make the world a better place for our children by granting women the right to vote in 1920. That's just what, just two generations ago? Just one generation ago a woman had no right to choose what happened to her body, again a few very brave people decided to make the world a better place by offering more freedom and more options. These people chose a path that wasn't lined with gold.
My way of "Making the world a better place for our children" includes all children not just my children or just the children in my family or just the children who belong to my socio-economic class or just the children that look like me or even just the children of the USA, it's all children.
So please when asking about who I will vote for don't say, "But they're going to raise taxes!" Yes, I am aware of that and it will probably suck giant gorilla balls but it's not just about money to me so go back in your Mc mansions with your high powered security systems and continue to cross the street when a person who looks different from you is coming the other way and continue to listen to these men and women who are "naming the enemy" and promising you more money. Hey, remember Hitler? That crazy guy with the silly mustache? He did just that and look how far he went?!
America is about choice, and I've made my choice. It may not be the same choice as yours but it's my choice so please don't look at me like I have two heads or call me stupid. I didn't call you stupid. Selfish, maybe. Small minded, definitely but I never called you stupid.

If you're referring specifically to the presidential election, I've made my choice too, and I think it's the same as yours.
