I just posted in one of my groups my resolution for this year: to be healthy. Not a hard one, just implementing some extra steps in my day to make sure I don't have extra medical stuff to worry about. Although I keep forgetting to wear my pedometer - but it'd also probably help if I could find it in that trashed thing I call a room.
I thought about my resolution from last year: don't say negative things unless it's constructive criticism. That lasted a whole whopping 2 mins I think. I couldn't keep it at all. I blame it on my environment though. There are so many stupid people here doing stupid things, and sometimes they need to be told that they are complete fucking idiots, or get the finger.
I gave up road rage for lent 2 years ago while in Germany. That actually went really well, but once again because of the environment. The people there actually know the laws and obey them. I know you guys probably think I'm just overexagerating but I'll give you our most recent bad accident report. Some guy driving an SUV hits a van and motorcycle doing over 100, the SUV ran a red light causing the accident. Everyone but the SUV driver died, and he doesn't have a reason for why he was speeding. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor. So, yeah, when you live with the mean population being 18-24 year old males you get a TON of HORRIBLE young dumb asses driving. We just had someone hit us about 2 weeks ago with his 2 year old in the car.
Maybe my new year's res should have been to move to a place where people actually know how to drive. Anyone want a house guest?

Every week or so I've either gotta drive to or from the airport to get to work or coming back from work. Its about a 40-45min drive depending on traffic and covers 4 pretty major roads in my lil city. I just got home from work yesterday and I'm very surprised to say that I actually wasn't nearly killed! Its been a long looong time since I could say that. I drive a little Suzuki Swift GL sedan, so its a fairly small car and I feel terrible every time I've gotta test its limits just so I avoid crashing the poor thing. I've totally forgotten the amount of times I've :
- Been cut off in a merging lane (you give way to your right here in Oz) because people don't check their blindspot when they merge.
- Had to take evasive action to avoid someone slamming on their brakes in the right hand lane (overtaking lane) so they don't miss their exit which theyve spotted way too late.
- Been thiiiis close to being sideswiped by the above while driving in the left lane because they just dont look let alone indicate.
- Nearly had a crash because STUPID FUCKING GODDAMN WANKERS think its smart to indicate onto a round-about while driving though it.... YOU INDICATE LEFT ONCE YOU'VE GONE HALF-WAY THROUGH IT, YOU DO NOT DOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOT INDICATE RIGHT WHEN ENTERING WHILE YOUR IN THE LEFT HAND LANE BECAUSE THEN IVE GOTTA SLAM ON THE BRAKES BECAUSE I THINK YOURE ABOUT TO CUT ME OFF THEN YOU JUST DRIVE ON LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED AND THEN YOU GET MAD AT ME WHEN I SPEED UP, CUT YOU OFF, EASE ON THE BRAKES AND BOX YOU IN LIKE THE SPEEDING, STUPID, NON-CORRECT INDICATING USELESS DRIVER THAT YOU ARE >=[
I'm not gonna even MENTION what I feel about people who park there cars on the road JUST ON THE ROAD in suburbs... "Oh im driving down the road lalala, oh heres the house im looking for ill just stop and park in the middle of the lane, im sure people coming around the blind corner 20m away doing 50kmh will see me"

Doesnt surprise me at all that last years road toll for my state was the highest in 7 years.
