A while ago I got pulled over for going 72 in a 55. The guy asked for my license and registration and started to walk back to his car. Before he got too far away I asked him if I could please not have a ticket. I wasn't whiney or crying or anything. When he came back, he handed me my stuff and said, "It never hurts to ask." I said, "You're not giving me a ticket?!?" He said, "I still have time..." Then I said, "No, no, no! Thank you!"
So a month or so goes by and I get pulled over again. (By a different cop.) I was going 40 in a 25. I thought it was a 35 zone. I didn't even ask this time, cause I felt like I deserved a ticket. When he got back, he handed me my stuff and told me he wasn't gonna give me a ticket, but slow down.
Today I got pulled over for going 37 in a 25. He used sirens and lights and everything. He told me I "blazed right by him." He asked for my stuff, went to his bike, did whatever cops do, and wrote me a ticket. I didn't complain at all. I was driving near a park and I deserved that damn thing. There are always kids in the area, one of them could have been my own. The fine was $141. Yikes!
I asked him how I could get that reduced. Right when we were done talking I realized that I couldn't go to court, cause of school. I told him I'm gonna be in Portland every day, so what could I do? He said call 'em and they'd sqeeze me in, just tell the judge I was in a hurry and he'd reduce the fine. I told him that I wasn't in a hurry, I was just not paying attention because my daughter and I were talking about school clothes for tomorrow. Sooo...he reaches over and says, "Tell ya what, I'll just take care of that for you," and writes VOID on the ticket and hands it back to me. Then he tells me to do good in school and "help my neighbors."
What a wonderful guy!! And all this after he had been working 13 hours today.
I am the luckiest girl ever. In more ways than one.
From now on I'm gonna drive the speed limit (at least in residential areas).
And Thursday, I'm gonna "help someone" by cutting off my hair and donating it to Locks of Love. I was trying to decide whether or not I really wanted to cut it, cause I'm a chicken. I even had the appointment set already, but I was thinking about canceling it. Getting pulled over and then let go was a sign. The next time you guys see me I'll be a whole new girl!

I think it's great that you're giving your hair to Locks of Love!! I've always thought that's a great thing to do.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
