i kinda feel bad. ive been bugging this guy to check out savage garden with me for months and i finally got a maybe out of him. i was supposed to call him today but decided to put it off and just drop by 10 minutes before he got off work at midnight (he works like 5 minutes away from me) but i totally forgot until about 20 minutes ago. its just as well i guess. he only said he might go and he does have a peace bond keeping him out of downtown (i cant believe anyone actually follows those). hopefully i can get him to check out velvet for sunday night, if its even open.
im starting to get back into anime again, so i picked up the first volume of gungrave and appleseed today. ive been hearing a lot of good things about gungrave, but its totally ruined for me thanks to vampire hunter D, another anime made in the early '80s which totally sucked. theres too many similarities between the two so all i can think about is how much vampire hunter D sucked and can hardly notice the positive aspects of the gungrave (-why the fuck do D and Grave not speak for gods sakes?!?!?!). appleseed however, fucking blew me away. the entire thing is computer generated so it looks better than the mona lisa and the plot is really easy to get into and moves at a great pace, and its nearly 2 hours long so its really able to draw you in by the time its over. gundam wing is probobly next on the docket. i used to love that series and its been far too long since ive seen it. fuck taking chances on stuff ive never seen before, getting burned sucks (ala perfect blue, vamp. hunter D and gungrave). although i have a growing urge to get final fantasy: advent children. its another cgi anime and from the trailers it looks even better than appleseed, and i wouldnt be taking such a risk with it because its supposed to take place 2 years after the events of final fantasy 7, with the same characters (even sephoroth, who was totally bad ass but died in the game). only negative aspect is i hate subtitles. my tv is 48in so its hard to read the bottom and see whats going on at the same time.
i love finding new songs that totally get stuck in my head, and its happened a couple times recently. ive been playing a lot of the new "need for speed" and theres a song in it called "hand of blood" by bullet for my valentine. unfortunately the album is hard to find, and the only place it seems i can get it from amazon, and who likes waiting a week for anything and paying for shipping??. im probobly going to have to go the same route for the second song, which makes it easy to justify waiting a week (since your getting more) and the shipping cost (since its only like 1$ more for a second item). this other song of which i speak is "i will dive for you" by boom boom satilites. its a small part of why i love appleseed so much, it was playing during one of the action sequences.
when i was in sudbury before i came back home i was thinking that after three weeks here itd be hard to tear myself away. itl be easier than i thought, i really miss all my stuff back there. but i know once i get there ill be wishing to be back here, the grass is always greener on the other side.
