There are a surprising number of possibilities already lined up for this weekend...
what to do what to do....
But for now its a bit of a long and dreary day at work...at least yesterday went by quickly thanks to 1. Lumines 2. RuneLateralus stopping by and kicking my ass at Wipeout Pure and 3. chatting with Hedy for a while...
When I got home I checked through my pld email account to clear it out and of found an email from my best friend from 2 months ago...apparently he's been in the city a few times hanging out with a very old girlfriend of mine (didn't even know she had moved back up here) with no way to contact me...and for some reason he didn't have my new email address...
Then I got sappy and nostalgic and spent time on the web looking up a couple of bands I was in years ago in Carbondale and listening to the old songs... Here's a sample.
And here's another sample from a different band.
Later I went out to see my friend Tom and ran into an old college roommate on the way there....hadn't seen the guy in two years now...Weird...ended up talking to him for a half an hour on the sidewalk...
So, yeah, a big-ass nostalgia evening...
But now its time for the present: roller derby practice tonight...(wait, is that the future?) The new recruits will be there and I'll have to train the new referees and statisticians on how to set up the track...ah, the joys of being the #1 Track Daddy.
Talking to Hedy got me excited about busting out some of my strangest instruments and noise-makers and getting some new music recorded...think I'm going to have to lock myself in my apartment and get that done before the weekend festivities...
mini-update: I feel really bad right now...when I came into the lab this morning I did my usual round of cleaning up, throwing away miscellaneous papers that the students leave behind overnight...anyway, a few minutes ago a girl came in looking for a 7 page paper that she forgot here last night...it was already long gone...now she's here typing the whole thing out again...
update-update: my best friend, whom I haven't seen in over 3 years, is now living in Chicago. Well, the 'burbs really, but still---hell yeah!
