Random things I think about at work...
I've been a fan of Anime since watching the Mysterious Cities of Gold. I bought my first anime, on video, when I was 13 (near enough 20 years ago!). I reading Super Play magazine fuelled my interest, then I started reading Manga Mania, and more recently, Neo magazine. And while I don't really keep up-to-date with all things anime now, i'd still consider myself a fan. And at 4am this morning, while putting cases of soup on a shelf, I got to thinking does this fandom work the other way? Are there Japanese people who are big fans of Western animation? Are there Japanese people eagerly waiting boxsets of SpongeBob Squarepants or downloading fansubs of the latest Adventure Time episodes? Do they scour the internet for old episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or obsessively hunt down everything put out by Cosgrove Hall?
Like I said, it was a bit of a random thought, and a bit of a rambling post too.
That same night I was asked a random question by one of the blokes I work with. He was asking everyone "What would you do if 20 Zulus invaded the store?" The only answer I could think of was to sing at them, quite possibly in a welsh accent.
On another random note, since starting my current job last November I have lost over a stone in weight and now none of my trousers fit. Which is nice.
