Well the christmas tree is down, the new year is eight days old already and normality has returned. Most people start looking back at the year that's passed at the beginning of a new year. but to quote the Fun Lovin' Criminals (not a phrase you'll hear very often) "Living in the past leaves one damned to repeat it". so i'm going to look forward. I've already got a list, not of resolutions as such, more a to do list fot the coming year.
Firstly, i am going to loose some weight. i currently weigh about 18 and a half stone, which isn't good. i don't really feel unhealthy, but it would certainly give my confidence a boost if i could shift some of this weight. I've made a start by trying to eat healthily. i'm not too bad at home, but working in a food shop means sweets and cakes are an easily accessible temptation. Luckily my boss is trying to loose weight too, so we're helping each other out. But what i really need to do is exercise more, so i think i'm going to bite the bullet and (re-)join the gym.
Secondly, i'm going to find love. My first goal may help with this as i currently have no self confidence (which may explain why my last two relationships lasted a grand total of four weeks each). To be perfectly honest though, i've no idea how i'm going to go about finding love this year, so we'll just have to play this by ear.
Next i am finally going to visit my friend mike and his girlfriend eli in their new house in Cambridge. He's been living in Cambridge for about three years now, and i've never gone to visit him. So this year i will.
And that's about it really. It's not much of a to do list really, but it's a start. i mean, there are other things that i could add to it, but they're more kind of things i'd like to do not definite goals. But i have a feeling that this year is going to involve a major shake-up in my life. but in a good way. Guess i'll just have to wait and see if i'm right though.
All the best to everyone for the new year!
Oh! and i recommend that everyone read After Dark by Haruki Murakami. It's a great book that i read the whole of today and enjoyed every minute of.
