Today is a good day. Today, being Tuesday, is Gun Day. Every Tuesday evening my zombie-hunting posse and I head to the gun range for non-stop fun with firearms. Today I worked with a Beretta .380, Walther P99 .40 and .22 (maybe also a Walther?) The .22 is cheap as fuck to shoot and fun for basic target practice, but ::yawn:: it's a bit boring. The .380, a little better. The .40? Now we're talkin'! However, the blue ribbon for the best gun shot to date goes to the Sig Sauer .45. That was an absolute blast (::cough cough:: pun intended). Hot DAMN that baby's got some kick to it! I like 'em big and slightly hard to handle, what can I say. Who would have thought that I would be such a gun nut. Then again...who wouldn't have thought it. I'm dreaming of the day when I have a little gun all of my very own. (A little gun, a big gun, an even bigger gun...) I asked for something with pink grips and Hello Kitty detailing, but the dealer at the range couldn't produce the goods. What's a girl to do? There's no reason why fashion and firearms can't go together. The range staff was a little sceptical when I pointed this out to them last time. I'm so tempted to sneak an obnoxious Hello Kitty sticker on one of the gun rentals, if I wasn't convinced that they'd execute me for it. They're so big and tough, that I can't help but fuck with them just a little bit. Always pushing the envelope... Anyone with suggestions on what to buy, pipe up. I'm looking for something small (to carry) but w/some weight, so I can really feel it in my hands. Then I can finally off those damn annoying squirrels in my back yard. I'll teach those bastards to get stuck in my bedroom ceiling! All things considered, my zombie hunting skills are coming along quite well. I can shoot a gun, handle a sword, light things on fire and can run like hell. I need to work on my hand-to-hand combat skills, but I think all the years of goth dancing must count for something. Bring on the zombie apocolypse!

but you've got it just right (my opinion) with the .40 cal or a 10mm if you can find. both have the power, velocity and affordable ammo. i'm assuming it's all about the semi-auto you want, but re-think the .357 and .44 mag. those are fine firearms. does S&W make a semi-auto .357? they might....
the desert eagle does not impress me. even with hello kitty custom grips. never mind that it's heavier than a broadsword, it has rotten ballistics and is expensive as hell.
