MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!!!! MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!!!! MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!!!!
It's time for another super mega rant, this time regarding my thesis.
So...in the circus performance that is our life, all grad students submitting Masters theses are required to have their work checked by the head of the Psychology Department to make sure the works meet APA standards - basically it's an elaborate spell-check process that according to the student handbook takes only "24 to 48 hours'". I handed my thesis to the department head on June 27th. Now, albiet, I missed the deadline for submission twice, so I wasn't expecting a prompt turnaround. However, I have YET TO GET IT BACK. WTF?!!!!! Several weeks ago I checked in with him to see if there were any problems. He said he was hoping to get to it within a week. Since then - nothing. Today I checked in with him again and this was his reply "I apologize, but to brutally honest, there's essentially no chance that I'll be able to get your thesis done before the middle of September. I won't even be in the country for the next week. Sorry again." The motherfucking middle of September? Three goddamn months from when I gave it to him?!!!! I'm so absolutely LIVID, at the same time that I feel like I don't have grounds for complaining, since I was far from punctual in submitting my work. HOWEVER, I don't believe that like begets like in this case. Just because I was unprofessional doesn't mean that he should return the favor. What do you think? Did I screw myself over yet again with my procrastination, or do you think he's mishandling the situation? Goddamn it, I just want to be done with this process. Give me my friggin' degree!
