I get asked a lot what my favorite song is to sing. The truth is that there are hundreds of songs I sing (something near 400 at last count), and I routinely get sick of some of them and fall in love with others. As does the audience.
If I had to pick a fave, I'd say "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins is right up there, and "Sweet Transvestite" and Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out". The crowd likes them, they're fun to sing, and I tend to do a pretty good job of them. If I'm looking to do something slow and mushy for the end of the show, it's usually a nice slow jazz version of "Breaking Up is Hard to Do", "Try" by Blue Rodeo or the George Michael version of "Roxanne".
In the end, though, it's just stupid-ass karaoke. Anyone that takes it seriously can go fffffffuck myself.
