After some long months I had the pleasure of another lesson with my Shifu after he returned from China. I’ve had the thought for sometime to expand what I wish to learn from purely fitness to actual fighting mechanics and techniques. Of which he has taught all I know but certainly not all he knows. While I learned a lot today, the first piece of advice struck a real chord with me. “Practice many techniques but when you find one that you feel works for you, stay with it and practice it so you understand it. Make it work for you as you want it to.” I think this advice can be applied to many things, to find your own path. Not because someone says so or recommends it but because it feels right to you.
