It’s true. It hasn’t. I went into the first episode of the new series somewhat cautiously. Two minutes later I was completely hooked. The whole atmosphere is a brilliant recreation of the original. The costumes, the set, the games, the music. It’s all completely spot on.
Okay, so I’m not wild about the hosting duo. The somewhat canned and forced banter is a little wearing. So are the bad puns. But I’m not here for the hosts. I’m here for the Gladiators. Diamond and Sabre are quickly becoming my favourites, I have to say. I’m missing Wolf and his roguish bad boy antics. They have a new Wolf in the form of Viper. But so far he just comes off as a bully. Anyway, I’m pumped up for the rest of the series.
