So today I had a kind of crappy day at work. I am a mechanical designer at an engineering company and its a somewhat small company so me and the Chief engineer are also the computer tech department. I decided I would go in early today so that I could leave early and i ended up walking right into a trap.
I walk in and the office is in chaos and as soon as i walk in the door i have like 10 people telling me their internet isnt working and their email isnt working so I am like holy shit if every single persons internet and email and network drives are down it means something is broken give me a minute, lol
it turned out that a transformer like 30 yards from out building blew over the weekend and killed 2 of our 3 24 port switches. I am probably in the server closet for about 2 minutes and this lady who is in charge accounting comes in and is hounding me about why isnt it fixed yet and why am I a tech if i cant fix it and im like holy shit ive been here for 2 minutes, i already know whats wrong and I need to decide what to do while I wait for the other tech to get in since he is actually the head tech.
So I am waiting and my boss doesnt come in when he usually does so i start digging through old equipment and find our old switches and start transferring everything over hoping they work. Like halfway through the chief of operations comes back and is like oh i just got an email that he's going to be late right as he is walking in the door. but i got everything working and i think the lady got chewed out because someone heard her berating me and told the chief of operations.
But then my night got better when I sat down to watch the Rangers game and they ended up playing a really good game and won 4-1.
Oh well, time to fire up the xbox, I am addicted to Oblivion.
