and finally they are here
(as I said I had to cut out a lot of pictures..there were over 1500..this is 120 of them)
(also if you can't see the entire photo, right click and "view image")
the plane ride to San Francisco:
we hardly slept at all, so we sought Peet's coffee to keep up going
we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and went to Sausalito the first day
it was a really beautiful clear day
view of San Francisco/Bay from Sausalito
the moon from our motel balcony in south SF
Twin Peaks
it was really windy
our rental car
the Haight
table top in a coffee shop
Haight Ashbury sign but it didn't come out that well
cute black pug in a Vintage store on Haight
ice cream at St Francis Fountain in the Mission
this is what I had
banana, mango and coconut ice cream with bananas, strawberries, pineapple, whipped cream and toasted coconut mmm
this is what bobby had
banana ice cream
I am obviously a pig
haha we were cracking up about it
a large sculpture near the piers, taken from the Embarcadero
I didn't get to ride in one of these, but I like how retro they look
Alcatraz
it was really windy on the ferry
can you see bobby?
one of the cells from in the infamous Escape from Alcatraz
where they climbed out and up
I love this...if you see the large version, you can see it better...but i love how the bridge and a seagull are framed
i also like this angle
recreation area
another favorite...this view of the bridge was just on the other side of the door in the recreation area which was obviously closed to the prisoners at all times
Lombard St..the Crookedest street in the world
random picture of me around Lombard
Telegraph Hill/Coit Tower
a hazy Golden Gate as seen from Telegraph Hill, another one I love
this is a "street" that is only for pedestrians
a crappy picture
but look at the fog! on our way to Napa
Napa
old faithful geyser of california
it was so not worth the $8 each to get in
but it was something to do
it goes off for about 4 minutes every 45 minutes or so
and this is what we did while we waited around for it to start again
sought shade in the high heat
see the rainbow?
Big Sur
the coast went from beautiful and warm(ish) to foggy windy and freezing and back and forth
a cold (at least to me) Santa Cruz beach
yosemite national park
waterfall
just look at how tiny the RV (bottom, center) in comparison!
I LOVE this shot
waterfall
this is the cool refreshing river where we laid and waded for a while in the 110 degree heat
we stayed in Mariposa and ate at this inexpensive, cute diner the next morning
it was covered in classic record sleeves
random on the way back from Yosemite
Vesuvio, a beat hangout
think Gingsberg and Kerouac
City Lights Bookstore, right next door
a cool looking building above Cafe Zoetrope
chinatown
a yummy chinese place where we ate
a cafe on Columbus
they have the same poster in 2 different rooms..I like how that looks from this angle
Monterey Bay Aquarium
the jellyfish were my favorite
especially this one:
Muir Woods
this place was so enchanted in some parts...everything was covered in moss
that is my favorite tree
we walked across the Golden Gate
it was super super windy so I didn't take a lot of pictures
but this caught my attention
we rode the cable cars, but it was really cold and windy and getting dark so we didn't take a lot of pictures on that either
Bobby took a picture of this in a bathroom stall somewhere along the way..I'm not sure where
but I like it...
