Alright so
Apparently Sudafed and Vitamin C get rid of colds like fucking MAGIC
My cold decided to leave just as I got out of bed this morning for my job interview, and I could not have been happier
Thanks to everyone for your get better comments! I think that may have given Sudafed its magic punch
So the interview
The entire interview is just so I can get promoted. Right now I work in the Staples Copy and Print Center as an associate
A little background on the way my store works:
Associates are the standard employees
They report to department heads, referred to as Specialists or Experts dependant on the department
These "leads" as we call them in the store, report to the managers
In my department, we haven't had a lead since June. He got fired for being in on a thievery ring that ended up causing like $15K in shrink.
Since then, I have been ATTEMPTING to do the job despite all the chafe I got from a now ex-associate.
I probably bitched about her in a prior blog.
So I had to do a job that is normally a 40hr/week gig on a 20hr/week schedule without the title, the respect, or the pay.
Today, the general manager and the district manager were conducting the interviews for the new Copy and Print Specialist
There were three candidates:
One girl hired in June after the termination of the previous lead. She has minimal experience and is still learning the ropes.
Another girl hired about two weeks ago. She doesn't know shit about the department, but she's sweet as can be and went to high school with my mom in the 80's
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd me. I have 3 years experience with the company, I have already been doing the job, have multiple customer compliments through corporate, have commendations for outstanding work, and I know how to do every little thing in the department
I think I know who I would choose, but then the GM would have to deal with my ass constantly coming to him to plan out how to improve our results for quality and sales. Not that I don't already.
The interview ended up going like this: I arrive a half hour early for my scheduled time, making me an hour early for work total.
They're interviewing the newest girl for nearly an hour.
Then instead of calling me in, fifteen minutes before I had to clock on for work, they call in the other girl.
I'm a little pissed.
Mainly because I woke up early to look nice
Like this:
With facial hair that looks more like this:
I had to get changed into my work clothes, which are pretty toolish, and start my shift without an interview
BUT
I got called back 15 minutes into my shift, and proceeded to have an interview that lasted roughly 45 minutes
I think I nailed it
The District Manager was wowed by my attitude and dedication, or so it seemed
I find out friday what happens
Keep my fingers crossed!
PS
You all fucking rock
Thank you for your encouragement
I still was nervous like a little bitch
