back when my car was pretty
Okay so, I got in a car accident about a month ago. I didn't have car insurance. (bad bad bad)
I have a car loan through my bank and they were originally having someone come check on my car to see if it was okay, so they could report it to their "Bank Insurance" (Some weird thing, I'm still not sure as to how that works).
Anyways, I got a call that pretty much ruined my whooole day: the bank calling to tell me they had added $6,000 to my car loan because of the accident. So I better get another loan to pay it off or be paying off this $11,000 loan for...basically my whole life.
After the initial shock set in, I thought about it and was like, "why would I have to pay that much?" and called the bank back and asked.
Basically, the inspector (who never called to ask to inspect my car) told the bank that my car was totalled and undriveable. I think she must've just seen it in the driveway instead of ACTUALLY inspecting it or...not even looking at my car.
Anyway, I called the bank back, explained that my car is drivable, not totalled...And the guy said that he had originally thought, from the report, that it was totalled. He kept asking me if I got rid of the car and if it was in a junkyard. I told him about the bumper and the hood and how I'm replacing that and the only other thing wrong was a little hole in the water tank and that's all.
And they reversed all of the charges.
My car loan is now $1,100. Instead of the original $7,800. Instead of the crazy $11,000.
I am so happy right now.
