So I like the whole not being on the internet thing, except inevitably, when I do go back on, I have a compulsive need to catch up, then I get burned out, and then I don't do what I need to. I'll manage, I suppose. I should just make a net to-do list and that way I'll be more organized.

Reading like a madwoman, recently: Embroideries by Marjane Satrapi (excellent, I've read persepolis 1 & 2 as well), Widdershins by Charles De Lint (if you've read this . . .OMG ABOUT DAMN TIME!), Looking for Jake by China Mieville (*smirk*), and currently, The Scar by China Mieville. This book is fantastic, and a truly satisfying read, especially since the main character is a linguist. "Confused by the double lingua-alveolar, as she had expected." Haha that made me squee a bit. The only thing I don't like, is that the focus of the plot is RAISING A HUGE CREATURE FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE SEA! We're talking unfathomably huge, a single chain link in the chains to hold this thing is like 50 feet long. That's really unsettling. Anyway, I still love the book and that's saying something. And after finishing it I have 4-6 books sitting next to my bed.

Beyond the books I'm reading for pleasure, I have material to read, closely, carefully, and in-deapth for my job. The orientation went swimmingly, I'm super-excited for this job. Not so many cute boys on staff (save for one, and he won't be in the same building as me) but that's merely a perk and not the purpose of the job. Besides, flirting distracts me. Anyway, like I said, I'm so excited, and my first day is in a week!

I'm feeling much better, I've seem to have completely overcome the sinus infection, and the subsequent allergic reaction. I took it upon myself to finally read the information pamphlet that came with the prescription and it turns out that the antibiotic itself can cause allergic reaction. So there you have it.

Saw Mike Doughty in concert on wednesday night, and he and his band put on a fantastic show, and he even performed in the gogo cage. How awesome is that?

Heyhey summer is here, which is really exciting. Although, I really wanted to bake muffins, but it's way too hot to do that. *sigh* Still I need to find some peeps to go to the beach with or do something with because I'm bored out of my mind. I should be doing work. Am I? Nooo. Slacker.

Speaking of large ocean creatures and cute boys, nueve was kind of a jerk and linked a frightening octopi picture in my last journal entry. I mostly forgive him. That being said, I really am deathly afraid of squid and octopi, it's a highly irrational, deeprooted psychological thing. But mostly it's only triggered by realistic portrayals. I.E. I'm going to have my hands over my face for half of Pirates of the Carribbean 2. So for future reference, no octopi pictures please.

I went to Boston on friday to see my lil brother as a belated birthday celebration thing. He took me out to breakfast to this teeny place that made the best pancakes I've ever had, for reals. They also were vegan/vegetarian accomadating which made me happy. Despite the really neat sounding combinations, I stuck with Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. Hey, they were really good. My brother was even worse and got plain jane pancakes. Anyway, we hung out and had lunch with our uncle on Newbury Street. I cannot remember the name of the place, something like Carvo or Chroma. It's in the same block as the Sanrio Store and the . . . JOHNNY CUPCAKES STORE!! Oh man I went nuts when I saw that. We sat outside, and the cupcakemobile was parked right next to us. Johnny Cupcakes, for those not in the know makes things with cupcakes on them. And they're awesome. I bought panties and 2 buttons. Mostly because I'm a sucker for panties. I really want to have a Cupperware party but I'm not sure I could get enough people together for it. Anyway after that it was afternoon and I was exhausted so I went home. It was a nice day though.

Speaking of the birthday, I finally had birthday cake, hooray! Betty Crocker rainbow chip, mmmm my favorite. My mom and I did pizza, cake and movies last night. The first was Memiors of a Geisha, which was as expected, very pretty but sort of banal and inaccurate. The second was Casanova, which was also pretty, but also funny, though the plot was as expected. My mom and I both agreed it was a good idea to watch Casanova 2nd, since it was uplifting, and I said especially since Heath Ledger was doing the lifting, to which my mom replied "he can brokeback my mountain any time." She's a funny lady.

Food! Lately I've been obsessed with chocolate soy ice cream, toast, mangos, agave nectar, muffins, and um, more toast. Also it's officially strawberry season, I'm so excited! I'm going picking on tuesday, hooray! I hope it doesn't rain. Also I've managed to snag some peaches at the grocery store, but they aren't as good as I'd hoped. Oh and if you thinking eating a peach is messy, that's nothing compared to eating a mango.
messy watermelon kisses,
