Okay time for a semi-proper trip update since I don't have anything better to do. Now with spoiler tags for your convenience!
-=-
and i would walk 500 miles . . . -=-
SPOILERS! (Click to view)I left Rhode Island in a whirlwind, or that's what it felt like. I mean, I had not even purchased my plane ticket a week before and here I was getting on a plane to meet up with someone I had never met before. The flights were relatively easy, no problems with delays, changing planes, etc. I met up with the amazingly fantastic
lovesome at the Orlando airport and seriously, what a way to be welcomed to Florida. On the way back to her place, we bonded over our love for Alton Brown, clove cigarettes and mixed drinks (among other things). We shopped for food and drinks for the party, and she bought the cutest, but crappiest smokes ever. The dude behind the counter said they were cloves. They totally weren't. However they are called "Pink Dreams" and come in a pink holographic box, and the smokes have gold filters with PINK paper. But, they aren't cloves. Such a disappointment.
=-=eat, drink and be merry=-=
SPOILERS! (Click to view)I know it's a cheesy song lyric, but it's so appropriate! I brought home-made marshmallows and ended up making the burgers for the bbq (turkey and beef). Plus I can make some delicious mixed drinks for sure. Oh and there was merriment to be had even if I spent most of the night on the patio smoking cloves.
Still the party was good and I met some seriously awesome people. I can't wait to see the pictures from that, I was very obviously wasted in some of them.
-=-messy watermelon kisses-=-
SPOILERS! (Click to view)I think that's going to be my new journal sign off. It's kind of top secret as to why, but that's okay. Incidentally I'm eating melon right now, but it's only cantaloupe and honeydew.
=-=I will not give up, I'll make it through tonight=-=
SPOILERS! (Click to view)Monty Are I lyric, for those less in the know. The irony is that due to cleanup taking longer than expected on wednesday and the House of Blues being very unhelpful as to how many tickets were left (the show acutally did sell out) we (meaning myself,
lovesome, and
PhotoJoe) opted to chill and make dinner and see X3 with
nueve. Which I said was awesome and Nueve was an awesome date because a. he put up with my freaking out at all the tentacles in the PotC2 trailer and b. because we were probably the biggest geeks in the entire theater. Then I said goodbye to lovesome and PhotoJoe and their awesomeness and spent the next 2 nights with Nueve.
-=-Through sheets you will teach and I will learn-=-
No I'm not going to tell you what happened in the next 2 days.
=-=And I'm leaving, on a bus-train . . .
SPOILERS! (Click to view)Apparently there's an Amtrak bus, who knew? Not me, but on Friday that's what took me from Orlando to SW Florida on a very boring, uneventful 4 hour ride. But I got there in one piece and my cousin and I had dinner at this silly little restaurant. I thought the waiter was an out of work actor pretending to be italian but maybe he really was, since he could understand the difference between "salmon" and "sandwich." Despite the mixup our dinners were excellent.
-=-The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds, strewn across a blue blanket-=-
SPOILERS! (Click to view)I need to google a basic female body pic and color in all the places where the bad man tou- I mean where I got sunburned, because that white sand beach fucking killed me. Still it was so nice, to just lay in the sun and go in the water and not freeze my ass off (which totally is the case here).
=-=You wanna make me sick, you wanna lick my wounds, don't you baby?=-=
SPOILERS! (Click to view)And I totally think the sunburned triggered my getting sick. It started small and turned into large amounts of misery for the rest of my trip. Karmic retribution for partying like a rockstar? Perhaps. At any rate, I felt well enough to hang out with family on sunday and leave yesterday.
-=-Since you've been gone, I can breathe for the first time-=-
SPOILERS! (Click to view)Only it was more like "I can't breathe" because all the pressure changes really fucked with my head. Not to mention my original flight was delayed and I took a different one, so I'm home I just don't have my luggage. But seriously, there's nothing like coming home. Flying over RI and circling over the city lights and the Newport Bridge, the moon a hazy reflection on the water . . . a kid in the back even shouted "The Newport Bridge!" and all I could think was hell yeah little kid, we're home. And it's a wonderful feeling.
That was my trip (more or less). I'm still really sick, I woke up after taking nyquil last night and dreaming of fucking airports all night long, only to feel worse than I did yesterday. But I went to the doctor, it's a sinus infection. I'm taking liquid amoxicillin (bubblegum medicine!) because I've had trouble swallowing pills lately, and I've also got some scary looking nose-spray that I have yet to try out. Oh well. Tomorrow is my birthday which is a bummer, but at least being sick geives me a super good excuse to slack off!
messy watermelon kisses,
perdita
