I think I'm out of here. Yeah. It's been fun. I'll miss this shit.
Anyway. I just got some real great news. A really sweet, kind, generous, hard working, lovely, loving lad likes me, like more then a friend.
Before I knew this I had little day dreams about him being with me. Now I just smile a lot when I think about him. I don't know how to act around him. I kind of wish I didn't know, because I just want to be friends for a bit longer.
There a bunch of firemen and fire women around my town right now. fifty thousand acres burned down a few miles outside of town and they have been around since Monday-ish cleaning up and putting out the hot spots. I've been helping mama make them bag lunches for a few days now. Its down from 200 a day to 95 today.
I was so angry to learn that a local resturant turned them away the first night they were in town becuase it was twenty minutes before closing time. Its not like they could call ahead or knew about closing time. These folks are from Texas and California, they don't know what time places around here close or the numbers to call to give a bit of warning. Plus, they work all damn day (they get into town at around eight or nine at night, after getting up at five or six in the morning to be where they have to be at seven), aren't staying in a motel where they can make themselves some warm dinner (most of them are camping), and they are out there doing hard work to help us out. I just can't stand these small town dicks who won't do a damn thing to help someone out. Its not like they were being jerks, looking for a hand out, or unapologetic about being in so late.
Thank goodness there are people about like my mom. She got the call from the Forestry Department at eleven PM for 200 sac lunches by eleven am the next morning. There is no place within 100 miles that is open or carries supplies for this kind of thing. So she was on her way to Gaylord at four in the morning to get supplies and be back in time to have these lunches ready in time. She worked all damn day, and has been doing the same since Monday.
It just angers me so that some are too damn selfish to help others out when they are in need.
On a happier note, a bunch of the firefighters are staying right outside my door. I just want to hug all of them and let them know that not everyone around here is like that. A lot of us are very greatful to them and have nothing but love and respect for them.
