Well, I'm not so sure how I feel regarding a public journal. I've always viewed the internet as a source of information as opposed to a depository for it, but I've come around after exploring the community here. I will do my best to contribute some news items and the such like this one here in the hopes that I become more comfortable online.
On the biographical end of the spectrum, I must admit a hint of unease. The compromise I've sold myself is that I will post a brief bio here and now with the caveat that any future journal entry will be fabricated and bear little resemblance to reality. The news posts will continue to be as real as the sources I can find. Journals will be fictional. Mostly.
So, let's see. I just moved to Milwaukee from Chicago in order to volunteer for the election and spend the holiday months with my parents before I move to Madison. I've applied for a few jobs to keep me busy (grocery bagger, coffee maker, gas station attendant) but none of my efforts have come to fruition. Tomorrow I will head up to the local mall and inquire about holiday employment. I feel as if I'll soon be pushing a giant hot dog around the French Quarter wrestling a sticky valve.
I've been out on the town a few times here and I find it quite agreeable. Milwaukee seems to have islands of activity, none quite touching the other, making it a bit of a driving city (to which I do not take well). I plan my excursions with bus schedules, only a few of which run past 11:30 in the evening. In the face of this, I have still managed to find a diversity of destinations, all filled with pretty darn cool people. And I attended a movie free of charge my first night here -- hee hee.
That should suffice for now. It feels good to have something other than a goofy picture and a sexy laundry list on my personal page. How empowering.
