I went camping this weekend in Jasper! It was awesomeness. It put me in a good mood... except for the returning to Edmonton and reality on sunday . But that is fine! SG show tonight! Huzzah!
But yes, I'm sure you all want to know about my lovely camping experience, so here goes;
I was the driver, a post I usually loathe, but it was actually fun and I don't mind it anymore. Besides, it only made sense as I am the one who drives a big soccer mom van . I managed to avoid all the crazy elk on the road... it is rutting season you know... fun fun fun! Anyway, yeah, I didn't hit anything. YAY ME! Also, this was my first time ever driving in the mountains.... ever... in my life... and it was dark. Also, there was no centre line. This seems like a small problem, but when it is near midnight, animals in the ditches, and Pearl is driving in the mountains, which is a novel thing, a centre line would be really great. But yeah. I made it.
We went to the Maligne Canyon, which was gorgeous. And of course, once the sides stopped being so steep we knew we had to go over the little fence and play in the water. Which resulted in one of the boys slipping and nearly falling right in... twice, the first time he slipped with his shoes on, so he took them off... and the second time he slipped, he sliced his foot open on a rock. Apparently he should not be allowed to walk in icy rivers on slippery rocks.
Shortly after this we found a slightly deeper spot and cirdt decided that she wanted to go farther in. Of course, me being me, I wanted to go too! So yeah, we lost the bras, the pants, and thank goodness my shirt was long-ish. As I was following her in I managed to slip a bit on the rocks and mooned everyone because of my lovely thong underwear. Which makes me laugh, but I'm not sure what my roomie's church-ier friends thought of me. Meh! We went about to the tops of our thighs and decided against dunking ourselves in, which I know I definitely regretted later. How often do you get to submerge yourself in icy water in a canyon? Oh yes, and then we managed to catch the attention of a few people on the trail above, who stopped to watch for a while. It was awesome.
Later we went ot the hot springs, which was pretty uneventful, but lots of fun nonetheless. I got to feel like a parent, as I was driving my mom van and all my "kids" fell asleep in the back. Stupid everyone else getting to nap! LOL!
I was cold the first night, but the second night we got everyone in the same tent and had a big spooning train, so there was lots of warm to go around. And in the morning carla kept me warm by jumping in my sleeping bag with me. Because I wanted to prove to everyone how enormous the sleeping bag was.
Yes, so right now I'm supposed to be writing my essay and studying for my midterm that is tomorrow... I'd better get to that, as I am going out soon and probably going to the afterparty at misguided's house after. *sigh* so much non-scholarly stuff to distract me!
