OK, time to write more often. The last thing I want to turn this into is some kind of lame diary with the same crap over and over again. Yes, my life is uber repetitive. But, I love it, so even wit the lack of good money, I'm not changing shit.

But still, i always feel like writing, but can never figure out what without...

Finally a slow day. Between training for the AIDS/Lifecycle ride, practicing, teaching, rehearsal with 3 (4 next week) different groups, and recent trips, I haven't been around much. But things seem to be settling dow a bit, so that's good.

However, the reason for today's slowness is not so great. At the end of my ride yesterday, at the last stoplight before my house,...

I'm a heating pad junkie. And so are my cats. They fight me for it. miao!! miao!! blackeyed

You are indeed one of the busiest musicians I know! You seem to sign on to cool projects that you actually enjoy, too, which makes it nice to hear about in your bloggies. Hope your hinky back straightens up soon. Be gentle with it and don't stray from that heating pad too much. wink

Wow, apparently I'm really lagging on the postings-of in here.

Anywho, two days ago marked an important date. That was my first bike ride of 2008. I drove to Grant Ranch Park, then rode up to the top half of Mt. Hamilton to watch the Tour of Cali go over. February 16th, 2008. That was two days ago.

This year, I've already ridden 462 miles....

Woke up at 3:00 today. PM. Actually, I woke up several times between 7:00AM and Noon, then stayed awake for a bit, then went back to sleep and woke up at 3:00. Didn't get out of bed till 5:00.

It was needed. Not just because of the drunken state I found myself in last night, but because of the seemingly now regular Spring schedule. Busy...

Hung over. And getting my ass worked over on PokerStars.

Anywho.

Yesterday was an awesome day. Incredible. Did my first Mt. Hamilton ride of the year and decided to make it harder. I took my normal route, which included a 500 foot climb at 6.5%, an 1800 foot climb at 10.5%, and the upper half of Mt Hamilton, a 12 mile, 3000+ foot, 5% climb....

That is awesome! Good for you for doing the hard work a little early. You've been really committed to a better lifestyle and it's cool that the discipline thing is paying off and becoming a choice rather than a chore. Sounds like you're having some fun while you're at it, too. biggrin

I love the way things work out sometimes.

I'm a big proponent of taking a break, a couple weeks off, each year to realign the brain and soul and what-not. I'm just coming to the end of mine now, which means the regular schedule of constant teaching and rehearsals nearly every night will begin again.

Each time I take a break, I do a great...

Excerpts from a journal entry:

For the first time, I made a New Years Resolution last year an actually stuck with it. Actually, I had already started on it a couple months before NYE 07, but still, Im calling it anyway. Basically, it was to live a healthier lifestyle, loose weight, get back into shape, la-dee-da. This year will be the same thing. Even healthier...

So how many of my innerweb writings have started with something along the lines of:

So here I sit, wasting time before I head out to teach, sipping tea and bobbing the noggin to Dinosaur Jr.

It's the one day this week I actually teach. It's nice to be able to get all the students that take lessons over the break to cram in on...

Bloggie blog time.

That's how you would spell it, right? Bloggie? Bloggy? Blogy? Blogie?

Had a gig last night with my trombone ensemble, and 6 of my private students played with us. It was just a Christmas gig, but having them there, playing with one of my groups, meant a lot to me. They sounded great, and they seemed to have a good time. I...

I think it would be quite something to have you as a teacher. Your students are pretty lucky. Sounds like youv'e got your shit together in lots of ways and the fact that you love what you do probably transates really well to those high schoolers. Good for you. That's just awesome. Think of all the people who get up everyday and dread going to work. Sounds like you just don't have that malady. Nice.....
