Finally something to write about! Figures, the weather turns a bit better, and things start to happen! Enjoy:

An interesting thing happened on today's ride.

Granted, I've had close encounters with animals in the past; Riding next to coyotes running along side me. Coming around a corner and seeing a gaggle of cattle. (gaggle?) Even the occasional suicidal-squirrel-near-miss. Those guys are crazy. And not so...

That sounds insanely hectic! There are a whole load of geese on the bike paths I ride and I don't think they're nearly as big as a turkey and I can't imagine how bad it would be to have those nearly hit me....

You know, I keep thinking to myself, I should write something on this here deal. But every time I do, I can't think of anything interesting going on.

It's just the same old stuff, over and over and over again. The musical is going well, lessons are going great and the studio is expanding, finally... The symphonies are doing well. Shostakovich's 10th Symphony and Bartok's...

My god, I've been busy. I would love to post more often, but here is why:

I played My Fair Lady last summer in Saratoga, and ever since then I've been getting calls left and right for more shows. Oliver in San Jose, Music Man in Fremont, Sweet Charity in Saratoga, Once Upon A Mattress in San Jose.

So, this weekend is the Once Upon...

Dang, you've been doing a TON of shows! I always love playing for musicals. (Once upon a Mattress is one of MY favorites -- F-R-E-D, FRED!!!! ) Usually by closing night I've re-written all the lyrics into something really sinister or off-color. It's a defense mechanism to ward off the dozies. tongue

I'll make a trip over to your donation page! smile Oh! and guess who's coming down for the SF Pride parade this summer. My little drum corp has been asked to make an appearance. Contract signed and everything. Don't know if you're game for coming up for a look-see, but just an FYI.

Today's itinerary: Lagunitas Brewery, Russian River Brewery, Bear Republic Brewery, then off to some rental house in Healdsburg for Bocce Ball, Wiffle Ball, Frisbee and a keg of Gordon Biersch. My kind of Bachelor Party.

(not mine, just my kind...)

Tomorrow, please be nice to me.
dmac:
Well, since I'm about a week late for the "being nice" request, I guess I can only ask how it all went. Was it an epic bachelor party or do you even remember?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I guess if you don't remember, then that immediately qualifies it for an "epic" bachelor party right there, doesn't it? smile

A friend on Facebook, whom I often intelligently debate politics with, just tried to make this deal.

He would read Noam Chomsky's Hegemony or Survival, if I read An Inconvenient Book by Glenn Beck.

Seriously? Glenn fucking Beck? For Chomsky?

I just wish there was a better way to portray the art of falling out of a chair laughing into a Facebook comment.
dmac:
Curling, definitely!!! There's a local league here in town and I've always wanted to go down and check it out. It looks like a ridiculous amount of fun!

As for the books, I think your FB friend's got the far more interesting read ahead of him. Yay Chomsky!

Forgive me, I must vent a bit.

So, last night one of the best collegiate big bands in the country played at my old college. And when I say one of the best college big bands, I mean the best college big band. No, I mean one of the best big bands in general. But I digest.

I couldn't make the concert, I had a...

Wow, busy 4 weeks.

Just finished a run of Music Man up in Fremont. 4 weeks, Thursday *or Friday) through Sunday, 5-6 shows a weekend. It came out pretty good. I'm not a fan of cliche musicals, you know... Guy comes to town, meets girl, tries to get girl, girl turns him down, he keeps trying, she gives up and falls for him. Meh. But...

Local theater and musicals can be so fun! Went to Saratoga (I think) couple months ago to see The Producers and it was amazing compared to the lame ass movie version. Didn't hurt that my friend played a granny. :-)

Happy New Year folks. I swear I had more to say, but now I can't remember.

Oh well, time to get on the bike for a nice Mt Hamilton New Years Day ride!

I just realized with all the musicals I'm playing in, I have some crazy weekends coming up. Like this coming weekend: Rehearsal Saturday morning in Fremont, the a matinee show at CMT in Downtown San Jose, then a concert in Redwood City at night, then a double feature in San Jo Sunday. 5 services in one weekend for 3 different groups. Should be fun! Not...

Now, THAT is an awesome story. But be forewarned, we girls tend to wrap our dads around our fingers from a very early age. I think we're hard wired at the level of our DNA to connect deeply with our dads. Parenting daughters is not for the faint hearted. wink

And, um, is that you sitting in a rehearsal with full bike gear on in your profile picture? Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do! smile

Oh lordy! This is hilarious!
