A quick story that we heard at dinner news on the AIDS/Lifecycle ride:

There was once a child who had a dream where 2 wolves were fighting. He asked his uncle, an old Indian chief, about it, and this is what he said:

Inside all of us, there are two wolves. One stands for all that is good:...

So, for those that don't know, I take part in the AIDS/Lifecycle fundraiser every year in June. It is a fully supported bike ride from San Francisco's Cow Palace to Los Angeles' Vet Center. 560 miles over 7 days with around 3,000 other folks.

The purpose is to raise money to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS. My donations go to support the San Francisco...

Wow, that's quite the ride!

Wish I could help, but I've been hit with a case of Sudden Onset Unemployment. It's been contagious these last couple of years.

Good luck with your ride!

My favorite MLK Jr quote, still so relevant today. Have a good one, folks!

"The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy.

Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.

Wow, with the New Year comes oh-my-god-crazy-busy. It's tech/hell week for the current musical, this time Annie in Fremont, which runs through January. Yeah, I know. But fortunately the pit is deep and I'm way in the back, so I can't see anything, and can rarely hear anything outside of dialogue while the orchestra is not playing. Makes it easy to get some good reading...

Had a great New Years last night. Due to sickness (not mine) and squabbling friends and friends of friends, all my optional plans got ditched. So, I decided to ignore New Years. I actually got a few texts and Facebook offers in the evening to come out, but I decided to get in the PJ's, climb in bed, and watch old Marx Brothers movies while...

Merry Christmas everyone.

From a band geek to the innerwebs with love!

dmac:
And a merry Christmas to you, fellow band geek! biggrin

I've heard that music somewhere in my ancient past, but the slide show made it all the better. In college I dated exclusively trumpet players and they were, indeed, an egotistical lot. Then, I made a late in the game change to low brass players (bass trombone and tuba guys) and I never went back. There was never enough room in a relationship for the three of us: Me, the Trumpet Guy and his Ego.

Thanks for making me smile! How were your holidays?

OK, apparently getting the wireless to reach my laptop in my bedroom was a bad move. 1:15 AM, My Name Is Bruce on the TV, and all kinds of chat bouncing around. And wide awake.

Great.
