Yup, I knew it. I felt like shit before I left on Friday, so I loaded up on the drugs and went anyway. I actually felt good while I was up there, Sunday when the exhaustion started to hit in. Or, possibly, it could have been the fact that somehow we drank from 11 in the morning to 1 at night on Saturday. Seven guys,...

It's dilemma time.

I've been looking forward to this weekend for a while. My sisters boyfriends surprise birthday party up at Bass Lake. Head up this afternoon, come back on Sunday. It really is a much needed and diserv-ed vacation. Chillin' with several really good friends and some family, maybe do some hiking, find a mountain peak somewhere and climb it, and don't forget the...

So, for quite a while now I have been uber busy; to the point of not really having much spare time at all. No evenings off, maybe one day off every two weeks, including weekends.

Now that all that is over, I'm finding myself a bit confused. What is this "bored" thing? Why am I getting the urge to rip my eyes out with a...

Done.

Hell-month-and-a-half ended earlier today with the two-set Easter gig. Finally. And with my kids out on Spring Break this week, I have a bunch of free time. And yet another complete day off! I have absolutely nothing to do on Tuesday! What is that, the 4th time this past month? Crazy.

p.s. On a side note, today I learned that "Episcopalian" is pronounced "Dry/boring...

Ha! This is the first year in ages that I haven't played an Easter gig. Can't say I missed it. It was nice to just have a regular day off and do my laundry as usual......

Twelve inches of hair, eh? Whoa..... before and after pictures are required for that kind of transformation! Congratulations on the weight loss, too. I've been losing weight steadily since about June and am probably as thin as I've been since undergrad. Feels good, doesn't it? Hooray for you!!! biggrin

Had to laugh about your Episcopalian comment. I'm an old school Lutheran and have always felt right at home in Episcopal services but I can definitely see how some people would find them a yawn fest. Worship isn't worship anymore -- it's entertainment. Praise bands, powerpoint slides, etc etc and the old school stuff like Lutheran and Episcopal Liturgies just doesn't strike a lot of people as relevant anymore. Good thing this country allows religious freedom, eh? We can pick & choose what's good for us (or what entertains us for an hour or so)

Have a great spring break! Go out and play! biggrin

Of all the bitching and moaning I've been doing over the last couple weeks about this whole hell-month-and-a-half, it all came to fruition last night. The whole reason for my crazy schedule, the 3rd symphony, in which I was playing as a sub for a friend, had their first of two concerts last night.

The music wasn't all that challenging, it was a Chinese Spring...

Let's see, what to write.

This week is really starting to have an effect on me. Tuesday through Saturday rehearsals or gigs at least 40 miles away from home, having to deal with horrid rush hour Peninsula traffic up 101... But, it's almost over.

I love playing with this group, and I get to play principle on Stravinsky's Firebird with a top notch amateur orchestra,...

I love this article. This, in my view, is really what music is all about. Not talent, not precision, not even "how good is it?" What music is really about is emotion, love, entertainment, and most important, FUN.

Which is why, in my mind, outlets such as MTV, VH1, television in general, mainstream radio, and the media in general, are ruining and destroying what music...

God, I *LOVE* this article. How fantastic is that? biggrin

Music SHOULD be fun.....that's kind of why I never pursued a major in music. So many of my pals declared music majors (either performance or ed) and then the fun just got stripped out of things, they changed majors, put away their instrument and never played again. It broke my heart so I decided it would be a hobby rather than a profession and never studied formally past high school. I've always wanted to play the french horn so the RTO would be perfect for me if I ever decided to pick up a horn and give it a whirl.

Thanks for sharing that. It definitely made me smile.

It's been a while, so I figured I should write something.

The trombone choir I play with bought a piece for solo trombone and trombone choir, and I got a chance to read through it a few weeks ago. We all liked it so much, that they want to add it to our set list. I'm pretty stoked, since I haven't performed a concerto type...

Man what an awesome weekend. I've been out on the bike for 4 days straight now, and I feel amazing. All that work and repair I put into that bike surely did pay off, it feels amazing. And even though I've always preferred to ride in the evening, these morning rides have actually been pretty cool.

In other news... Hell month is coming close to...

How I didn't get sick I will never know. I was convinced all day Sunday I would be out of commission this week, but somehow, nope. Felt good yesterday, and I feel just fine today!

With all the sickness going around, I'm surprised I didn't catch it, since I haven't been really sick since November-ish.

I'll just chalk it up to exhaustion. After a day...

Seriously, after all that AND the possibility of impeding sickness you deserve to be exhausted.

As for me, I'm still down with the cough. I've stopped counting the days for this damn bug and I think I'll go buy me some stock in Robitussin. skull
