My god, I've been busy. I would love to post more often, but here is why:
I played My Fair Lady last summer in Saratoga, and ever since then I've been getting calls left and right for more shows. Oliver in San Jose, Music Man in Fremont, Sweet Charity in Saratoga, Once Upon A Mattress in San Jose.
So, this weekend is the Once Upon A Mattress show weekend. We had 3 shows yesterday, my first triple header. By the end of the 3rd show, I could hardly keep my eyes open. I felt the tempo dragging, so I looked up and saw the conductor, his eyes closed and his head bobbing down. Still conducting, of course. He says he didn't fall asleep, but I think he dosed off for a short time.
2 more shows today, then a rehearsal for Sweet Charity, which is one of my favorites. Good music, although borderline cheesy/campy 60's pop/psychedelic at time. Very Austin Powers-esque.
Fortunately, it looks like I will have some time of after Sweet Charity, which will be nice since it runs for 4 weeks. The next show I'm signed up for is Les Miserables, which doesn't open until late July.
Plenty of time to get back into training, with lots of time off before and around the AIDS ride.
By the way, I'm doing the San Francisco to Los Angeles AIDS/Lifecycle bike ride again this yeah, so if anyone wants to donate, and I know that you all do, so badly... Here is the link for my donation page:

OK, time to get ready to head out for a double header and a rehearsal. My god my lips are going to feel AND look like leather tomorrow...

Dang, you've been doing a TON of shows! I always love playing for musicals. (Once upon a Mattress is one of MY favorites -- F-R-E-D, FRED!!!! ) Usually by closing night I've re-written all the lyrics into something really sinister or off-color. It's a defense mechanism to ward off the dozies.
I'll make a trip over to your donation page! Oh! and guess who's coming down for the SF Pride parade this summer. My little drum corp has been asked to make an appearance. Contract signed and everything. Don't know if you're game for coming up for a look-see, but just an FYI.
