So sore....
Did 3 rides this week. That would normally be a slow week for me, but those three rides added up to 294 miles.
122 last weekend in Tahoe (6000+ altitude), 40 Friday, and 132 more yesterday with over 8000 feet climbing.
And right towards the end of yesterdays ride, my left knee decided to give up. I don't know what happened, but just after I reached Summit Road for the second time, this time via the hour long climb that is Soquel San Jose road, and started riding up and down across Summit, the left knee started to hurt whenever it had to work. So, I would rest it and coast downhill. That made it worse.
I guess I twisted it, or sprained it, or tweaked it somehow. It feels fine now, just gets stiff and weak if I don't move it for a while, but for those last 20 or so miles, it hurt like hell. And unfortunately for me, those last 20 miles included several small but steep inclines, and a 2 mile DIRT section. Yeah... Suck
But, realistically, this could not have happened at a better time. I have 2 weeks off the bike starting tomorrow (which mow starts today) due to teaching band camp at the high school.
So, that will be 2 weeks for my body to recover from the hell I have been putting it through this summer. Hell, this whole year. My bike journal is at nearly 3800 miles for the year. It's no wonder my body is revolting.
So, rest time. Chill today, teach a few lessons, and the the fun of camp starts tomorrow. 2 weeks of no bike. Well, commute bike... But that will be the full suspension mountain bike, and 1 mile to the school. No problem.
No problem.
Sound like last words?
