Its getting close.
So, long story short. Back in the day, me and a bunch of college band geek friends went camping every summer. We went lots of places, but usually it was to Fallen Leaf Lake, right next to Lake Tahoe. And the tradition was I would ride my bike around Lake Tahoe, and they would hike up Mt Talac.
I changed it from a 78 mile loop into a 111 mile century by kicking out to Truckee and back.
Well, we haven't been for a few years, due to folks growing up and moving away, getting married, having kids, you know, the normal adult stuff. (Just not me...)
Well, we're going again. We leave tomorrow. I really can't wait, it's one of my favorite places on the planet.
However, here's the kicker. With all the training and long distance riding I've been doing, I decided a while back that I would attempt my first double century. 222 miles over 2 laps around the lake, both with the kicker out to Truckee and back.
Now I'm a bit nervous. I think I'm good to go for it... I have my food, I've been hydrating the past couple of days, and I will continue that until the ride on Saturday. My goal is to finish in under 12 hours. Seems a little daunting now that it's close.
But, either way, I'll be out there all day Saturday. Leaving camp between 5:30 and 6:00 AM, and hopefully returning before dark.
Wish me luck!

I've taken to viewing my tan lines as a badge of pride, and it sounds like your new ones were obtained in a particularly noble pursuit.
Are you band camping yet? Tis the season, it seems...
